Department: Office of Enrollment ManagementReports to: Dean of First-Year AdmissionLocation: On-site (Chicago Campus)POSITION SUMMARY:The Admission Counselor is a key member of Dominican University's undergraduate enrollment team, focused on supporting strategic enrollment goals through recruitment and community engagement, especially for the Chicago Campus in the Pilsen neighborhood. This role emphasizes relationship-building with prospective students, families, high schools, and college counselors within assigned Chicago neighborhoods. The Admission Counselor will collaborate across the university to strengthen Dominican's presence and achieve enrollment targets, fostering connections in the communities served by the Chicago Campus. As part of the Undergraduate Admission team, the Admission Counselor will actively participate in recruitment events on and off campus.The Office of Undergraduate Admission is often the first point of contact for students, families, and high school counselors. The Admission Counselor is expected to create and maintain an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit prospective students to meet the enrollment objectives of the Chicago campus.
  • Work closely with the enrollment team to identify the best opportunities for students' success, whether in the Associate's degree program at the Chicago campus or the Bachelor's degree program at the River Forest campus.
  • Collaborate and ensure strong communication with administrators, faculty, and staff at the Chicago campus and the campus in River Forest.
  • Represent the university at high school visits, college fairs, and community events.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, and community partners.
  • Review and render admission decisions for applications on a rolling basis throughout the recruitment cycle.
  • Present estimated and official financial aid awards to students and parents to ensure they understand the award and their financial responsibility.
  • Conduct campus visit appointments with prospective students and their families.
  • Present to small and large groups of students, families, and/or high school counselors.
  • Participate in undergraduate admission-sponsored events on-campus, off-campus, and virtually.
  • Irregular work hours, including nights and weekends, may be required to meet prospective students or during on- and off-campus recruitment events.
  • Frequent travel within a designated region is required, particularly in the fall and spring.
  • Perform other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
    • Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Ability to think critically and solve problems.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
    • Effective use of technology to communicate with students and maintain an actionable database.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Previous admission, higher education, and/or sales experience.
      • Knowledge and appreciation of Dominican University's programs and offerings.
      • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Slate CRM, and Jenzabar EX.
      • Experience working and effectively communicating with Hispanic and underserved communities.Physical Demands:
        • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
        • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
        • A valid driver's license or alternate means of reliable transportation is required.Salary and FLSA Status:
          • Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 annually.
          • FLSA Status: Exempt, 37.5 hours.
